Become part of our ‘Bunker’-family!

Gymnasium Fürstenried is now over 50 years old. Since the beginning, we have shared the building complex at Engardiner Straße 1 with the Staatliche Realschule München II, Josef-Fraunhofer-Schule – a school community that has grown together more and more over the years. Due to its outward appearance, our school is also popularly known as the ‘Bunker’. Even though the building is now a listed building, the Brutalist architecture with its typical exposed concrete looks solid and cool on the outside – quite the opposite of the school’s interior: The bunker is known far beyond the city boundary for its active school family, good education and respectful behavior.

In addition to lessons, various educational projects play an important role in our daily work. In addition, mediators from the middle and upper school make it easier for pupils in Year 5 to start their new school and guide them through their first year. Our school psychologist (StRin Moll), the counselling teacher (StDin Krüsken) and the school social pedagogue (Ms Majak) as well as all other teachers are available to help all pupils with any problems and can be contacted by both pupils and parents/guardians.
In addition, trained mediators help in cases of conflict of an individual nature and with problems in classes. Up to grade 9, ‘Time-for-us lessons’ are available to pupils at regular intervals.

From Year 9 onwards, students are permitted to use their own mobile devices such as tablets or desktops in consultation with their teachers. As of the school year 2024/25, iPad classes were introduced from Year 10 as part of the Bavarian state government’s ‘Digital School of the Future’ (DSdZ) funding program.
